Our mission is simple: we save dogs.
Be it by rescuing, fostering, transporting, donating, fundraising, unchaining, etc., we save dogs.
It's what we do. Because we are giant-hearted dog-loving loons.
- We love and cherish all breeds of dogs, but specialize in PIT BULLS and other bully breeds/bully mixes, including: American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Terrier, Bull Terrier, American Bulldog. However, we do consider other breeds, particularly hounds, on a
case-by-case basis, and we do work with other rescue organizations that
serve multiple breeds.
- We do NOT have a kennel or shelter facility. All of our dogs are housed in volunteer foster homes.
- We DO accept owner surrenders under certain circumstances, but only with
the approval of our Executive Director. Please contact us for more
information if you are needing to surrender a dog - there are many
resources available that may be able to offer you assistance.
- ALL dogs are spayed/neutered before being adopted - we do NOT adopt out unaltered dogs under any circumstances! Puppies may be adopted before sterilization surgery with special approval, but ONLY with a spay/neuter contract in addition to the adoption contract.
- Under absolutely NO circumstances will we allow ANY dog in our program to be involved in dog fighting, baiting, or breeding of any type.
- Telephone interviews and home visits, along with thorough reference checks, including veterinary references, are required for ALL fosters and adopters.
- We love our dogs and they are part of our families, and we believe all dogs deserve the same, so please understand why our application process is so thorough.
- We are ready, willing, and able to help with a variety of rescue services, including: shelter pull, fostering/foster coordination, adopting/adoption coordination, transporting/transport coordination, unchaining/unchaining coordination, coordination of veterinary care, fundraising, etc. - however, please keep in mind that our resources and space are limited, and we are not able to accommodate every request, as much as we would like to.
- Thank you for your continued support!
**PLEASE NOTE**
-OUR MAXIMUM CAPACITY IS TEN (10) DOGS-
As of 04/05/12 Two Loons is at capacity and CLOSED TO INTAKES.
At this time, only special-circumstance intakes will be considered and will require the approval
of both our Executive Director and a majority vote of the Board of Directors.
Under NO circumstances can we accept a dog into our program without a foster and funding/sponsorship in place.
We will no longer accept sponsorship in the form of "pledges" - all sponsorships MUST be paid in advance.
The *minimum* sponsorship required for a new admission is $100 for an adult/senior and $150 for a puppy.
These amounts may vary depending upon the condition of the dog.
No one can save every animal, but everyone can save one.
Please be that person.
